Rex A. Blevins, CSP, OHST, CPEA

Mr. Blevins has over thirty years experience in the manufacturing environment with twenty years directly related to safety and health management. He has held the position of Director of Safety for a Fortune 100 company where he won acceptance into and participated in the OSHA VPP STAR program, as well as Director of Safety for multisite facilities where he was responsible for the safety of 1000's of employees. He has worked in union and non union environments in a variety of industries. He has been instrumental in substantially reducing the injury rate and injury costs for those companies, while working closely with senior management and employees. He has developed many management and audit tools to establish management accountability and safety program development.

He is also experienced with the OSHA inspection and legal process having testified in court both as an OSHA Compliance Officer and as a company Safety Director. He is considered an expert in many safety and health areas for purposes of legal testimony.

Mr. Blevins held the position of Senior Compliance Safety and Health Officer for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). As a senior compliance officer, he conducted hundreds of inspections in general industry and construction, investigated numerous fatal accidents as well serious injury accidents.

Mr. Blevins began his career in manufacturing in 1976 as an industrial spray painter. In 1978, he joined the United States Army, Military Police Corps. He so served for three years in the 101st Airborne Division located at Fort Campbell Key, and in Germany at the Fishbach Army Depot where he was assigned to Nuclear Security duty. His military service was recognized with several letters of accommodation and promotions. In 1982, he started attending Franklin University at night while maintaining his full time job. He graduated in 1987 and obtained his first supervisory position at Columbus Coated Fabrics.

  • Certified by the Board of Environmental, Health and Safety Auditor Certifications as a Certified Professional Health & Safety Auditor (CPEA) July 2001
  • Certified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) November 2003. Certificate number 17857

Professional Affiliations

  • Elected a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Sep 2000
  • Authorized by OSHA as a General Industry Outreach Trainer for the OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses - 1998
  • Served two years as the Chairman for the Safety Program Development Planning Committee for the Ohio Safety Congress (the largest regional safety congress in the country)
  • Served on the curriculum committee for the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center School-to-Work program and taught introductory safety courses
  • Mr. Blevins has been the guest speaker for employer groups and Chambers of Commerce.
